As a designer I am inspired by everyday places and spaces, how they are used and the Relationship between what I create and the people who use them. The goal for each one of my projects is to communicate effectively with the client, push my skills as a designer and wow the client above their expectations.

After completing my HSC in 2009, St. Columba’s High school, I decided in the new year of 2010 that I would pursure a career in Interior Design. In the last five years I have achieved certificates in interior design including, Cert IV Interior Decoration in 2011, Advance diploma Interior Design in 2013, and finally a Bachelor of Business Management (Design) in 2014. Throughout my studies I was prevlidged enough to have a variety work experience that was presented as assessments. These opportunities included the Penrith RSL, NYAS, Wyong Café, and Cranebrook High School. During this time period I was able to enhance skills and abilities in areas such as: Archicad, Photoshop, Indesign, documentation, drawing, documentation perspective drawings, model making, drafting skills, interior decoration, experience with hardand soft materials, and lighting knowledge.

I am currently in my final year at Gateway studying Interior Design. This year I became involved in our Student ASID program, an invaluable experience as I have been able to learn from my peers as well as practiced designers. Some of the programs I have been able to work with include AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 20/20 and Photoshop. While they are all incredible tools, I enjoy hand rendering the most.

Shamaila is a graduate of the University of Houston where she majored in Interior Design and minored in Architecture. She has also done post graduate studies in Interior Design at the distinguished National College of Arts where she experimented with furniture design. Design has always been a part of her life ever since she was a teenager. She designed sets for theatrical plays and from there discovering her passion for Interiors she pursued her degree and now has a successful career in Interior Design. Having worked for both reputable corporate and residential design firms she has well rounded experience and is able to pursue both facets of the industry effectively. She is LEED certified in Commercial Interiors making her current for the ever evolving market trends along with other certifications. In addition, Shamaila has lived in Africa, South Asia and now the USA which gives a an edge as an interior designer professional as she can easily adapt to a client and add that diversity to her designs.Her hobbies are painting, writing and spending time with her family.
