I have always been a creative person and have a passion for print and lens-based media. I currently work as a graphic designer for a publishing company based in Plymouth. I am responsible for designing page layouts, special features and advertising for the title. The adverts I design are both in-house and for external customers. I am also responsible for the titles marketing through social media, email newsletters and website content. Further to this I design the titles trade stand which is used for the many shows and trade fairs we attend. As well as my role as a designer at Diamond Publishing, I also do the occasional freelance job. The most recent of which was the re-branding of Dartmoor Cycles in Tavistock. All my design work is done using the Adobe Creative Suite. I enjoy keeping myself fit and have a particular passion for Mountain biking. I also enjoy trail running and walking. I also have ongoing interests in architecture, music and cookery.

At the young age of 11, Gena sat back one day in her 6th grade class and realized, "hey, I can draw!" The class was tasked with hand drawing a knight in armor, and hers turned out much better than she expected, and thus a passion for art was born. It wasn't until high school that Gena took any formal art courses. She frequently participated in talent shows and her church choir with aspirations of becoming a professional singer. However, taking note of her fine art skills, it was as a senior in commercial art class, Gena decided to pursue a career path in graphic design. She embarked on this journey by taking the appropriate college courses for a degree in the field as her 'plan b' - if this whole music thing didn't work out. All musings aside, as a result of her dedication to the field and hard work, she has been employed as a graphic designer since her freshman year of college (1999) - you do the math! She also volunteers with her church, not just uplifting her voice, but with live sound mixing and as a projectionist for worship services. She also leads the multimedia ministry - a group of volunteers dedicated to the AV, marketing and creative design needs of the church.
